who we are

Christ Community Church officially launched on July 12, 2009. Prior to our first public gathering, we met for a number of months in order to establish a core group and solidify a vision. Our central motivation as a church is an unwavering commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that it is the greatest need both for those who believe already and also those who have yet to believe. It is who we are and affects everything we do.

>>> The Gospel

Mark Dever explains, “the message of the Gospel is that the one and only God, who is holy, made us in his image to know him. But we sinned and cut ourselves off from him. In his great love, God became a man in Jesus, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross, thus fulfilling the law himself and taking on himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever turn and trust in him. He rose again from the dead, showing that God accepted Christ’s sacrifice and that God’s wrath against us had been exhausted. He now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness, we are born again into a new life, and eternal life with God.” At Christ Community Church we believe that in light of the message of the Gospel, we should have an upward, inward, and outward vision.

>>> Upward

We believe that we should continually seek to glorify God. As the people of God, we gather weekly to worship our triune God by reading scripture, praying, singing, listening to preaching, and receiving the Lord’s Supper. During the week, as we scatter throughout the Texarkana area, we seek to worship God in everything we say and do.

>>> Inward

We believe the church is God’s unique people, who have been saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ, and are united into his body, the church. We not only worship God but we also love one another. We are a family and we live life together seeking to strengthen, encourage, and challenge one another to love God and others. We do so by meeting together throughout the week in each other’s homes and in various places to invest in one another.

>>> Outward

We exist to glorify God, strengthen one another, and impact the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are missionaries who strive to be a blessing to a broken world, meaning not only to the Texarkana area but to all the nations of the world. We do so by living and speaking the truth of the gospel and participating with others by giving of our time, resources, and talents to achieve this goal.
